After what had been a long and incredibly hard year for her pupils, Angela, a year head from a local high school, had decided to take matters into her own hands by organising an unforgettable leavers’ do for the kids!
Hoping to show them how proud everyone was of them for juggling the struggles of at-home learning with the difficulties of lockdown life, she had arranged for them all to spend their final day as students enjoying the sunshine on one of the school’s spacious sports pitches. And as entertainment for the occasion, she had specially hired out a bouncy castle assault course and also planned for some other carnivalesque games to go ahead, including wet sponge throwing, hook a duck prizes and more.
But knowing that the day just wouldn’t be complete without some good grub to get stuck into, Angela’s top priority had been, first and foremost, to find a tasty menu that would suit everyone’s needs – and she found exactly what she had been looking for in Hog Roast Longfield!
Our Southern Slow Roast menu had caught her attention immediately, and so, back in the final week before the schools broke up for the summer holidays, the Hog Roast Longfield team arrived at Angela’s school to serve up a sumptuous feast of slow-roasted meats, delicious sides, dips and a tasty vegan option too.
The team had spent all morning preparing the lunchtime menu, which consisted of Texan 24 hour beef brisket, fall off the bone Louisiana sticky pork ribs and Cajun-spiced whole roast chicken with a smokey sweet BBQ glaze, and side options that included thick and creamy mac and cheese, potato salad, cheese and jalapeno smothered fries and Memphis style crunchy coleslaw. For the vegan pupils, the Hog Roast Longfield crew had whipped up our increasingly popular Hickory BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls, served with crunchy ‘slaw.
With so much variety on offer, and everything bursting with flavour, the kids had a great time trying out new things, and experimenting with different flavour combinations. The only thing that made the day even better was the warm glow of summer sunshine!
