A Night at the Races with Hog Roast Darenth

Hog Roast DarenthThere is a good thrill to watching the horse races, even more so when you have a small bet on for a winner. But of course gambling real money comes with a risk, so instead of putting up real stakes and ruining some of the fun, our favoured customers of this past weekend instead just had a bit of fun simulating a night at the races by digging out old races and putting up tokens in lieu of real bets. The result was a very fun night for a whole family with the added catering of Hog Roast Darenth to even up the odds some more!

Yes, it was a night at the races here at Hog Roast Darenth this past weekend. Our chefs and servers were delighted to join the McCabe family as they celebrated the 80th birthday of their beloved grandmother. Granny McCabe’s one few vice in this world is to put a £1 on the horses each weekend. When it comes to the Grand National each year, we have been reliably informed that Granny McCabe has never once lost a bet. A real horse whisperer, this one!

To celebrate her 80th the family thought they would put on their own race night so that she could enjoy one of her favourite pastimes with the whole family. Based on what we’ve been told about her betting successes, it may have been for the benefit of the rest of the family that there was no real money on the line, or else granny may have swiped the lot alone!

Hog Roast DarenthTo make the race night and the birthday celebrations even more of an event, the family asked that Hog Roast Darenth provide our hog roast catering to the evening. We were more than happy to join, serving up hot hog roast rolls in between each race and helping to toast to the big winners after every finish line! The family were even gracious enough to hand out a few tokens to our Hog Roast Darenth chefs and servers so that we could get in on some of the fun.

We loved our time with the McCabes, even if we didn’t win all too much. If the same is coming again next year, then we’d love to be there to serve again!
