Hog Roast Hawley – Pickleballing and Hog Roasting For a Birthday Celebration

Hog Roast HawleyOne of the fastest growing sports in the world right now is pickleball. You may have heard the term but have no idea what it is. No, it does not actually have anything to do with pickles. Instead, it is much more like a mix of tennis with table tennis. A smaller court, paddles rather than racquets, and a harder ball that is knocked back and forth over the net. Sound simple, and it is, but it can be deceptive in quite how hard it actually ends up making you work. Once you try it, it’s easy to see why it has grown in popularity so rapidly.

Our Hog Roast Hawley chefs had a very brief opportunity to try at the weekend as we catered for a 32nd birthday celebration. Hugo, the birthday boy, has become a big fan of the sport, getting a lot of his friends into it as well. For his birthday he wanted to have a little fun booking out his local court for he and his friends to enjoy a few rounds before then enjoying a good catered meal together. That is where Hog Roast Hawley comes in.

We had the pleasure of playing chef and spectator while the games went on. We remained with our roaster to make sure that our hog roast and our barbecued foods would be fresh and ready to go once they were finished. It is hungry work, even if it doesn’t quite look like it at first, so it is vital that we had plenty of refreshments immediately ready for the birthday troop.

Hog Roast HawleyIt isn’t quite what we usually do, but at Hugo’s insistence our chefs and servers also had a quick shot with the paddles, too. We were largely hopeless, so we’ll probably just stick to the hog roasting for now, but in return our chef also then showed Hugo how our hog roaster worked and gave him a quick shot attending to it. Unlike us with pickleball, he may be a natural in front of the hog roast! There’s always a spot to become master Hog Roast Hawley chef, Hugo!

It was a wonderful celebration and our hog roast certainly went down a treat for the sweaty players. Next time there is a pickleball tournament, we might just come along!
