Anyone in Compton will more than likely be able to tell you about the Griffin Sports Pavillion. A brilliant local community resource and hub that has brought through many a young generation of outstanding footballers. Run by the London Youth Sport Trust, it has been an excellent place to keep kids off the street and putting their energy into sports.
So, then, when the Hog Roast Compton team received a call about catering at the brilliant Griffin Sports Ground, we jumped at the chance. Any excuse to get ourselves down to the pitches and cooking our famed hog roast out in the sun! We may be a tad old and past it to be putting on the football boots these days, but we can still cater a delicious game winning hog roast any day of the week!
So out we came on a sunny mid-July Saturday ready to cater our roast. The conditions were just perfect to be set up pitch side at the Griffin Sports Ground with our mobile hog roasting machine working away throughout the afternoon. Come evening time, it was ready to go with a perfect, golden crisp hog roast coming off the roaster to be finely carved by our Hog Roast Compton’s head chef, Jason. In the midst of our hog roast cooking, Jason had also prepped our homemade sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce to go with the roast, and the crispy crackling that comes off the roast as it cooks was all gathered up to then be served for even more texture to every hog roast roll. The Hog Roast Compton team had also provided a fresh selection of sweet potato fries, regular fries, herb dressed new potatoes, tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed leaves, gourmet coleslaw, and a great veggie option of grilled veg and halloumi skewers complete with creamy tzatziki dip and tangy sweet chilli sauce.
If that brilliant summer feast wasn’t quite enough for all 90 guests, the Hog Roast Compton team had one more surprise in store: a finishing dessert with a choice of chocolate torte or individual handmade cheesecakes. Now that is a perfect summer feast!
